Students win fees victory

“Victoria University Students have won a victory this week after the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) rejected VUW’s application for a 10% fee increase to Arts and Education Students” says Nick Kelly VUWSA president.

“VUWSA and our national body the New Zealand Union of Students’ Associations have campaigned and lobbied hard for the last few months to stop this fee increase to Victoria Students. This decision is at least in part the result of having strong students associations that through collective strength go to bat for their student members”

On Monday the 18th of September VUW are setting their domestic fees for 2007.

“Its time for the government to increase funding to tertiary institutions so students are no longer crippled with debt due to ever rising student fees.”
