Advocacy Office

Our advocacy team will listen to your concerns, explore options, support and guide you towards a solution.  We are confident we can support you in both simple and complex issues so we welcome queries of any kind.  If we cannot help directly, we have built up strong relationships with external organisations and we know who to refer you to.

Providing you with a professional, confidential and useful service is important to us.  We are available to Undergraduate students from all University campuses, Online/Distance students, International and Postgraduate students.

Here to help

In many cases you will be able to deal with issues as they arise yourself. But sometimes you will need some extra support. Come see us if you have issues with your lecturer, course coordinator, tutor, landlord or employer.

If it’s an administration problem, you can see your Head of School or your Associate Dean or Dean – in fact any University staff member should be able to help you in some way. If it’s a course-related issue of any kind you can talk with your Class Representative – the person elected by your class at the beginning of a course.

If you’re not sure how to go about things and want some advice our Student Advocate on the ground floor of the Student Union Building.

It’s important to understand that in many instances, it is possible to sort out issues quickly – so don’t sit on what’s bugging you – if you feel you need some help, no matter how insignificant it may seem, get in contact with the Student Advocacy Office in confidence. We will do our best to help you out and you get extra help if necessary.
