VUWSA is dedicated to seeing that the experiences of students at Victoria are positive in all aspects. This includes students feeling like they are studying in a safe environment. While you are studying at Victoria you can expect:

  • Safe places to study
  • Safe and well-lit pathways at night
  • Support from Campus Security
  • Support from your students’ association
  • Learning, health and recreation services
  • Support for International students

Victoria has a comprehensive Emergency Response Plan and will provide welfare support should a major civil defence disaster occur. They also have a dedicated Student Safety website.

Campus Safety Audit

In VUWSA’s 2010 Student Survey, campus safety was highlighted as an area of concern for some students. To better understand student perceptions and experiences of safety on campus VUWSA launched a Campus Safety Audit in 2011.  The results will be used to create a report that will inform VUWSA and Victoria of issues and concerns students have about their safety on campus. The final report will be completed at the end of September.
