Car Parks

VUWSA have car parks available for students on the Pipitea and Kelburn campuses at subsidised rates. Upon application you must provide evidence as to why you require a car park. Reasons can include:

  • The distance between home and the University or the unavailability of public transport in you area – you will need to provide a bank statement, electricity bill or phone bill that has your proof of address, and you may need to prove this by supplying a map of your area demonstrating that it is not on or near a bus or a train route;
  • Health/mobility difficulties – you may require a letter from your GP;
  • Car-pooling to campus – VUWSA can Xerox other student IDs once you come in with the student ID cards belong to whoever you are car-pooling with;
  • Work requirements – you will need a letter from your employer;
  • Childcare issues – a letter from your childcare provider will be required;
  • Any other special circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

The more forms of evidence you can provide as to why you need a car park will enhance your chances of gaining a permit.

Permit cost $220.00 for either trimester one or two. If you wish to get a permit for both semesters, the cost is $400.00. Trimester three permits are only $80.00.

Each permit is required to be displayed in the front window of your vehicle. You will also be required to inform VUWSA of any change in your circumstances such as a new registration number.

You can submit your application (with supporting evidence) by dropping it in to VUWSA’s Kelburn Office, or post to VUWSA, P.O. Box 600, Wellington.
