Personal information

We collect personal information from you, including information about your:

  • name

  • contact information

We collect your personal information in order to:

  • help inform the setting of the Compulsory Student Services Levy.

  • the Use of data matching will help understand what your interaction with services are.

    • for example, if you are a first year, if your response is different from second year student.

    • if you study 60 point annually, how your response compares to someone doing 120 points of study.

  • This data matching is only to help us understand how views differ between groups and to help us understand why that might be.

  • We will not use the data matching to personally identify you, we have no interest in single personal views as they do not help info us.

  • We commit that any data that is used by the panel for fee setting will not contain personal identifiers, this will be stripped out prior to the panel seeing the information.

Besides our staff, we share this information with:

  • Te Herenga Waka in order to inform the fee setting process and undertake data matching, your personal identifiers will not be shared with the final data.

We keep your information safe by storing it for a limited period and only allowing specific staff to access it .

We keep your information for 2 months at which point we securely destroy it by deleting the survey data personal links.

You have the right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it is wrong. We are collecting personal information on this survey, we will not use this information to personally identify you as the information is being collected to help provide guidance to the levy-setting process. If you have indicated you wish to enter the prize draw, then we will use that information in order to contact you.

VUWSA has no interest in your personal responses other than how it informs the levy setting process as a whole.

Any personal information we receive through our survey will not be made publicly available (unless publication is one of the specific purposes for which it was collected).

Use and disclosure

We will only use personal information that you provide to us through this site for the purposes for which you supplied it or, in exceptional situations, for other reasons permitted under the Privacy Act 1993.

We generally do not share your personal information with others unless this is necessary for the purpose for which you gave us the information (for instance to investigate a complaint). Occasionally the law may require us to disclose it (for instance to investigate a criminal offence), or there may be safety reasons for disclosing it.
