O-Week Room Closures & Technical Info
From Monday 17 through Friday 21 February we have our annual O-Week celebrations in the Hub. The Hub will be utilised throughout, with specific times at night when the area is blocked off. See the bottom of the page for a map of closures for the event.
Production Pack-in
Production pack in will take place on Saturday 15th & Sunday 16th February, limiting access to the Tim Beaglehole Courtyard during that time due to the trucks involved. Event infrastructure will be in The Hub, Level 0 Easterfield, Level 1 Rankine Brown, and in the Courtyard for the duration of the week.
Sound & Lighting Checks
Sound checks will be taking place in The Hub from 3:00pm each day – these have the potential to be loud, especially in offices that directly face onto The Hub or Tim Beaglehole Courtyard.
Light show programming may also take place during the afternoons – whilst these aren’t as disruptive as sound checks, they may involve flashing lights and strobing effects, which can be often seen throughout the entirety of the Hub, regardless of where you’re located.
Fire Detection
Fire detection systems will be isolated from 6pm each day. In the event of a fire, alarms will have to be manually activated. A separate notice will be sent by Safety, Risk and Assurance to the occupants of the buildings affected.
Security
Security will be locking down the venue from 6pm. For staff working after hours, the best option is to exit via Level 0. If staff were to leave via Level 1, security and event staff are more than happy to assist them.
Please note that the library will be locked, as well as the exits from the Hub on the Mezzanine level (including at the top of the stairs into MacLaurin).
The venue will be secured from 6pm each night, in preparation for event doors to open at 7pm. If any staff working late have any issues with building access during that time, please call the Security Control Room on 0800 842 8888 for assistance.
